Swangers

The Swangers really are like your favorite aunt and uncle. They take care of Ada, giving her food and advice and help. They're wise and trustworthy.

Ruby

Though Ruby is about Ada's age, she's also a guide/mentor figure in a lot of ways. She teaches Ada how to survive, whether that's cooking dinner or wearing men's pants when it's too cold for a dress. Like the Scouts, Ruby is always prepared.
