How It All Goes Down

  • Sister Mary Joseph Praise comes to Missing Hospital (the local pronunciation of "Mission Hospital") in Ethiopia from India seven years before the birth of her twin sons.
  • Sister Mary Joseph Praise and her friend Sister Anjali board a ship in 1948 and head across the Indian Ocean toward the British colony of Aden along with a Dr. Stone, who promptly gets a fever.
  • Sister Mary Joseph Praise nurses Dr. Stone back to health, and they work together to try to save Sister Anjali, who's also sick.
  • They fail. Sister Anjali dies.
  • Stone asks Sister Mary Joseph Praise to come to Ethiopia, but she's committed to her mission in Aden and says no.
  • It turns out that the nun Sister Mary Joseph Praise was supposed to work with has died, and she has nothing to do in Aden anymore.
  • Sister Mary Joseph Praise turns up in Ethiopia after having experienced some trauma in Aden, probably rape, and Matron takes her in.
  • Sister Mary Joseph Praise takes a spot as Dr. Stone's nurse, and they make an amazing team.
