Great American Films Limited Partnership, distributed by Vestron Pictures

Some production companies have creative names. Spielberg's DreamWorks comes to mind. Or M. Night Shyamalan's Blinding Edge Pictures—because seeing one of his films is like being poked in the eyes.

Other production companies aren't original. The company behind Dirty Dancing, Great American Films Limited Partnership, has a terribly stale name for a production company. Despite that, the title manages to be both ironic and strangely truthful in only a few words. It made only one "great" American film: this one. And it produced only four films total, making it much more limited than they ever intended (source). Although we must say the cannibal comedy Parents (1989) starring Crazy Quaid a.k.a. Randy is a guilty pleasure.

As for Vestron Pictures, they were also a big ol' failure. We apologize if you're a big fan of C.H.U.D. II: Bud the C.H.U.D or Sundown: The Vampire in Retreat. Producing movies with lots of punctuation and long subtitles must have bankrupted them. Their only hit was Dirty Dancing. After that, they produced a bunch of junk up to and including the Fred Savage/Howie Mandel bomb Little Monsters, which put them out of business in 1990 (source).
