How It All Goes Down
- Once again, we find our narrator and heroine, Bella Swan, in deathly peril. A plan (unknown to us) has gone wrong and she and her protector (also unknown) find themselves outnumbered by a mortal enemy: "Black eyes, wild with their fierce craving for my death…" (Preface.5).
- We also learn that there's a war raging. Bella doesn't believe she'll live long enough to learn the outcome.
