Cole

Nikki loves to hate Cole, and so do we. Cole was the one responsible for tempting Nikki with easily escaping her problems by disappearing into the Everneath, and Cole also torments Nikki at every opportunity during her Return, taunting her with her fate, pestering her friends and family, and generally making her miserable. Cole is constantly messing with Nikki's life—you know, by antagonizing her—so he's definitely the antagonist in this book. Funny how that works.
