Character Analysis
Paridell embodies the worst elements of a court culture: seemingly refined and sophisticated, but actually fickle and fake, Paridell is superficiality and performance at it's worst. He comes in and out of Books 3 and 4 always causing problems with the ladies and strife amongst friends.
He spends some time with Blandamour, Claribell, and Duron—knights similarly inclined as he is—but he never stays with one man or woman for too long. His name suggests the famous Trojan hero Paris, who stole the beautiful Helen away from her husband Menelaus. Paridell, like Paris, isn't particularly concerned with marriage vows or other such attachments—all he cares about is instant gratification.
