- Bobby is awake with his daughter, the only one up in the neighborhood. He thinks of the rules his mom has for him: Feather is Bobby's, not Grandma's; it's time to be a grown-up.
- Bobby listens to Feather and realizes that she only wants him, and he is scared. He wants to run to his mom's room and have her take care of him, but he knows that he can't do that.
- So Bobby kisses his daughter's hands and realizes that even though he may think he doesn't know what to do, he actually does—he responds to her.
- Then comes a list of what goes in the diaper bag, and it is a long list. But Bobby fits it all in so that he and Feather can take the train to see Grandpa (Bobby's father) all day.
