Character Role Analysis
Forrest
Forrest is our narrator, so it's pretty clear that he's also our protagonist. But, more than that, he's our moral compass in a corrupt world. He doesn't understand racism; he doesn't understand sexual violence; he doesn't understand morally questionable wars. And yet, he never lets his confusion stop him from doing what's right, whether that's rescuing his fellow soldiers or handing a dropped book back to a girl. And, no matter what, we're on his side.
