Antagonist
Character Role Analysis
Will
Yes, Will is the protagonist. But he's also majorly his own worst enemy. No one else tells him he's terrible—that's all him, all the time. Will berates himself constantly with an abusive inner voice, shrinking his self-esteem minute by minute and blighting his chances of recovering from the tragedy in his life. Sometimes we feel badly for the guy, but sometimes we just want to scream at him. And guess what? Will feels the same way. He wants to get better, but first he has to stop screaming at himself.
The Creeps (a.k.a. the Reporter and the Anonymous Callers)
As much as Will gets in his own way, the dudes we're calling the Creeps—a.k.a. the reporter (who may or may not actually be a reporter) and the guys who place the anonymous phone calls—pose pretty legit threats to his happiness and well-being. They're all dead-set on the idea that Will is killing the kids in town—perhaps to cover for themselves, or perhaps for some other twisted reasons—and because of this, they are problems Will has to solve before he can move on to building a happier life.
