Antonio Gramsci's Dispute: Gramsci vs. the Croceans
Benedetto Croce reigned supreme in the field of Italian philosophy during Gramsci's day. He was a true tastemaker, a prolific writer, and an influential teacher. Much of Gramsci's work opposes Croce's ideas and the ideas of his followers, whether frontally (through a theoretical war of maneuver) or implicitly (through more of a war of position).
