We seem to have a happy ending on our hands here. After all, everybody gets what they want.

Sam knows what he wants all along: for the big guy to eat green eggs and ham. But the big guy has just recently learned what he wants. That's right, green eggs and ham.

In the final lines of Green Eggs and Ham, the big guy expresses his gratitude to Sam for showing him his hidden heart's desire:

I do so like
green eggs and ham!
Thank you!
Thank you!
Sam-I-am! (154-158)

Talk about a total 180 on the green eggs and ham position. And the illustration shows us that he's completely reversed his position on Sam, too. He's draping his arm across Sam's shoulder, his mouth open as he gushes with gratitude, balancing the now empty platter on one furry finger. Sam returns the feeling with a look of total contentment.

Teddy, we think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.
