Character Analysis
Hannah Abbot, like Ernie Macmillan and Justin Finch-Fletchley, is a Hufflepuff second year. She listens to Ernie as he tells her all of the reasons he thinks Harry Potter is the Heir of Slytherin (and Harry overhears them, though Ernie and Hannah don't know that). Hannah protests, "He always seems so nice, though [...] and, well, he's the one who made You-Know-Who disappear. He can't be all bad, can he?" (11.139). Hannah Abbott may not have a very distinguished or memorable character, but we know she's kind and wants to believe the best in Harry. Both of these are traits we like.
