The Lend-Lease Act: Abundance
The Lend-Lease Act: Abundance
There's a lot of subtext about how great and wealthy the United States is in this act, which is interesting because, like, who were the authors trying to impress? Themselves?
Anyway, the whole premise of Lend-Lease is based on the fact that America was called upon to aid the Allies in WWII because it had the ability and the resources to do so. If this was the only document you ever read about the U.S., it might seem like it had more weapons, industry, and productive laborers than it knew what to do with.
For example, check out the extensive listing that occurs in Section 4. "Look at all our stuff!" is the attitude here. Thankfully, there was also an abundance of generosity, which led the U.S. to share its resources with those nations in need.
