Koly

This one's pretty easy to figure out. Koly narrates the novel and is the character we hang with from start to finish. Plus undergoes a major change in the story, and we root for her hard. Koly starts out sheepish, obedient, and submissive, a girl who does what her mom says even when she doesn't agree. By the end of the novel, though, she's supporting herself by working a job she loves and has become a truly self-possessed and confident young woman. Yup—Koly's our gal.
