The Wrong Ending
- Fenoglio begins asking questions about Dustfinger, like whether he really has those scars on his face (from a time Basta cut him up, because they were crushing on the same girl); then he asks if he can see Dustfinger, and Mo waffles, but eventually gives in.
- During the conversation, Mo starts saying things about Meggie's mom, how she might still be inside the book, so Meggie makes Mo promise that he won't go back to the village to try to get a copy of Inkheart.
- Mo tells Fenoglio to meet them in the square where Dustfinger is waiting with the car—perhaps hearing his creator say that he shouldn't try to get back into the book will finally do the trick and convince him to stop trying.
