One Year Later
- Reese has been out for a year, and he says it's even tougher than he expected.
- To deal with all the temptation on the streets, Reese has remained focus on his vision for Icy. It seems to be helping.
- Reese says he's hung out with Toon, who isn't doing so well—Reese told him to get in touch if he's feeling suicidal.
- Reese thinks that he and Toon are heroes in a way. And we agree.
- Sounds like Reese's mom isn't doing so well either, so Icy's had to take on a lot of responsibility around the house. Willis is in jail.
- Reese is still working at Evergreen, and he uses the money he earns to buy food and school supplies.
- Also, there's a piece of sad news: Mr. Hooft died. He left Reese his silver soap dish with a note signed "Your friend." It's really touching.
- Mr. Cintron called Reese to see how he was doing. He tells Reese that Play is still on lockdown, and he's moving to a new facility soon. They're both sad about it.
- Reese allows himself to dream about the future when he talks to Icy. She seems to really believe that good things can happen, which makes Reese feel hopeful.
- Reese says he knows things could still go bad, but he's going to try to let himself hope for something good. That's something.
