Okay, so maybe it's not that simple. Both of them have family already, but those families are major sources of conflict. Maggie's family is selfish, greedy, and dismissive of her dreams. You know, the kind of people that prioritize Universal Studios over their critically injured kid. Frankie's daughter won't read his letters. Not a single one. When it comes to family, Maggie and Frankie have been dealt a similar emotional uppercut by life, and it drives them together. Frankie gives Maggie a stable source of support and protects her; Maggie gives Frankie a second shot at being a loving father.
