Antagonist
Character Role Analysis
Aryeh Lev
Even though he's Asher's dad, Aryeh is no friend of Asher's art. Pretty much from the beginning, Aryeh is trying to get his son to stop drawing all those crazy pictures. It's his anger that keeps Asher questioning whether or not he should be an artist at all, and as the book progresses, Aryeh gets more and more hostile to Asher's talent. Towards the end, he starts to come around to the idea that his son is an artist—only to reject it again after seeing Brooklyn Crucifixion I and II.
