Aryeh Lev Timeline and Summary

When Aryeh was just a child, his father, a great Jewish scholar, was murdered by a drunken goysiche peasant on the night before Easter. This tragedy inspires Aryeh to finish the scholarly work his father never got to finish.
Aryeh leaves Russia and moves to Crown Heights, where he meets and marries Rivkeh.
Aryeh and Rivkeh have a baby, Asher.
Aryeh helps smuggle Yudel Krinsky out of Russia.
The Rabbi asks Aryeh to travel all over the country to promote Hasidic teachings.
Josef Stalin dies, and the Rabbi asks Aryeh to move his family to Vienna so he can work on opening more yeshivas there.
Aryeh's son refuses to go to Vienna, so Aryeh goes alone. This time alone in Europe is difficult for him, and he loses a lot of weight and becomes very stressed out.
Aryeh learns that his son is doing in poorly in school, and he's furious. He doesn't understand why Asher is wasting all his time drawing silly pictures instead of studying Torah.
Rivkeh joins Aryeh in Vienna, which lifts his spirits. He opens many yeshivas and is basically hailed as a hero by the Rabbi and the Ladover community in general.
Aryeh and Rivkeh return home to find that their son is still drawing and painting, which annoys him.
Aryeh finally agrees to go to one of Asher's art shows. He sees Brooklyn Crucifixion I and II and disowns his son.
