Julia

Julia's relationship to Ivan is profound. She mentors him as an artist and helps him believe in his abilities. Ivan speaks to Julia through his art, which is important because this ultimately allows him to communicate to the human race at large. Julia is Ivan's conduit, and the story's turning point takes place when Julia acts as his agent for change. She's a steadfast friend, and the only one Ivan really has who doesn't live in captivity.
