JIMMI
- On the train tracks, twenty-one days before the hanging, Jimmi weaves in and out. He's low on money, but he can't go back to get his check until he's off drugs.
- He wants to get sober, but he's had a tough time dealing with withdrawal.
- As he walks along the tracks, he imagines the faces of people he saw in the war: a suicide bomber, a girl in the market, and many others.
- He wonders whether his baby wouldn't have died if he hadn't gone overseas, or if his life would be different.
- Jimmi burns his fingers making soup, but he doesn't care, and then he drifts off to sweaty sleep.
