Even though his book has received a whole lot of acclaim, when Vawter's granddaughter was asked to dress up as a favorite character from literature for class, she refused to be the paperboy. It just didn't have enough sparkles, apparently.

Victor's stuttering is a problem that's near and dear to Vawter's heart—he's dealt with it, too. Perhaps Victor's trouble pronouncing his name (which begins with a V) comes from Vince's own experiences?
