The Major

Ugh, the Major. Jamie's father might as well have a coffee mug that says World's Worst Dad. He's a walking compendium of what not to do to your kids—namely, ignore their talents, banish the gay one, and ship the troubled one off to military school in the middle of nowhere. If the Major, a retired army veteran, had a shred of compassion, he wouldn't be estranged from two of his three children. Oh, and did we mention he abuses his wife? It's no wonder Jamie hauls butt out of military school and runs as far away from his dad as he can get.

Pro tip: When your fourteen-year-old would rather crash in a flophouse and steal iPods to eat than live in the same town as you—never mind the same house—it's time to sign up for parenting classes. Okay, actually, it's past time.
