Peter Wyckoff

If it weren't for Peter—or P, as Jamie calls him—there's a good chance Jamie would have killed himself or someone else. He's the one who introduced Jamie to punk, and Jamie loves him enough to send him a handwritten letter after he runs off from school. When a fourteen-year-old figures out how to use a stamp for you, you can rest assured you're awesome.

Not only does P teach Jamie about the Ramones and the Clash, he encourages Jamie to write. When Jamie sends P a letter from Portland, P makes a copy and sends it back with his reply, just to remind Jamie what a good writer he is. Does it get any more guide-y and mentor-y than that? It does not.
