Character Analysis
Rabbit’s mom is a powerful figure in his life. At one point, after the baby’s death, he thinks that either he or his mother must die for the other to live. While she expresses disapproval over some of his actions, she is usually supportive in a disapproving sort of way. She is also staunchly anti-Janice, which rankles even Rabbit. But she calls Janice "daughter" at Rebecca June’s funeral. Eccles thinks she’s a "humorist," and she "wins" any argument with her husband, and then seems to feel bad about it.
