Father Pirard

Father Pirard might come across as intimidating and mean at first, but after you get to know him, you realize that he's actually a pretty nice guy. He quickly becomes Julien's mentor when Julien goes into seminar school.

From that point on, Pirard sticks around to give Julien advice on how he should navigate the upper-class world of France without compromising on his core religious values. Julien ends up breaking most of these values (especially the no-sex-before-marriage one), but at least we can say that Pirard tried to put him on the right track.
