Her name's in the title, so it's not hard to figure out that she's the hero. She's in pretty much every scene. She grows from a shrinking violet to a self-possessed woman of the world. She finds love and lives happily ever after.

Plus, she wears that little iconic black dress. That, friends, is a protagonist dress. You don't get to wear that if you're an antagonist, or even a mentor.
