The Shining Chapter 24 Summary

How It All Goes Down

Snow

  • It's twilight. Danny, Wendy, and Jack are on the porch watching the snow fall. Now they don't have to decide whether to stay or go. The Torrances are all relieved – the choice has been made for them.
  • At Jack's suggestion, they go in to eat the evening meal.
  • The Overlook doesn't seem to care that it is now in a state of isolation.
  • Or maybe it likes that "Inside its shell the three of them went about their early evening routine like microbes trapped in the intestine of a monster" (24.9).
