Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe)’s Timeline and Summary

Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin (Willem Dafoe)’s Timeline and Summary

  • Norman's company, Oscorp, is competing with Quest Aerospace to create weapons and human performance enhancers for the military.
  • Gen. Slocum gives Norman an ultimatum: he has two weeks to get his flawed performance enhancers working or else Slocum is giving the weapons contract to Quest.
  • Norman tests Oscorp's performance enhancers on himself. They give him super strength and speed. They also make him a violent rage-monster. Whoops.
  • Norman kills Dr. Stromm, then steals Oscorp's proprietary flight glider and armored flight suit. He has no memory of the murder afterward.
  • The Green Goblin blows up Quest Aerospace's glider and flight suit, along with Gen. Slocum.
  • The Oscorp board informs Norman that they've decided to sell Oscorp to Quest and that Norman's out.
  • The Green Goblin crashes the World Unity Festival and murders the Oscorp board. Then he fights Spider-Man and offers Spider-Man the chance to team up.
  • The Green Goblin attacks the offices of the Daily Bugle, demanding to know where Spider-Man is. Spidey shows up. The Green Goblin knocks him out. Spider-Man says he doesn't want to team up; they clash again, and Spider-Man gets a gnarly cut to the forearm.
  • At Thanksgiving dinner, Norman notices the cut on Peter's forearm and realizes Peter is Spider-Man.
  • The Green Goblin attacks Aunt May while she says her evening prayers, putting her in the hospital.
  • The Green Goblin kidnaps Mary Jane and holds her hostage atop the Queensboro Bridge, alongside a tramway car full of kids. When Spider-Man shows up, Gobby forces him to choose between the two. Spider-Man saves both.
  • In their final fight, the Green Goblin is impaled by his own glider. Spider-Man returns Norman's body to his penthouse.
