Wizard, No One

At Travis' request, Wizard tries to give him advice and act as a mentor, but in the end, his rambling speech about being a taxi driver doesn't seem to resonate. The best he can do is tell Travis to relax—which he doesn't do, of course.

Ultimately, then, Wizard is only an ironic version of the classic mentor figure, since he's a mentor who offers no real help. Travis has to teach himself— though he just teaches himself to get angrier and more violent. By the end of the movie, we're not sure exactly what he's learned from his experiences.
