Antagonist
Character Role Analysis
Illness and Death; George
Ah, Death, everyone's ultimate enemy. Granny's illness and imminent death are her antagonists for most of the story because they're stopping her from…well…living. After all, she has a lot of important stuff she still wants to accomplish like skydiving and swimming with dolphins. Okay, maybe not, but she sure would like to get rid of those love letters in her attic.
Illness and Death aren't the only things getting in Granny's way. As she's sick in bed, the thought of George keeps popping up to antagonize her. Can't a dying woman get some peace from the painful memory of her jilting ex-fiancee? Alas, despite Granny's best efforts to forget this guy over the last sixty years, George is now taking center stage in her brain.
