Character Role Analysis
David
David isn't really an antagonist in the sense that he wants to destroy Bertie. He's more of an antagonist in the sense that he's irresponsible and he ends up creating a lot of trouble for his poor younger brother.
It's David's duty to become King of England after his father dies. But duty has never been David's strong suit, so he walks away from the throne and leaves Bertie to pick up the pieces. Bertie tries to confront him about his neglect, but David intimidates him and teases him about his stutter when he breaks down out of stress. By the time David disappears from this movie, many of us are happy to say "good riddance" to him.
