Historical Drama

It's almost wrong to call The King's Speech a historical drama, because nearly everything that happens in it is historically accurate. Sure, some parts might be embellished— like the scene between Logue and Bertie in Westminster Abbey, but the movie is a smidge too close to historical fact to count as historical fiction.

This isn't just a story that happens to be set way back when: it's a story about a major leader, a major political conflict… and a very real, unlikely friendship. The facts—though not all of the dialogue—are true to life.

In fact, you should give a listen to the speeches that King George VI actually gave. You'll find that they're the same thing word-for-word as what you see in this movie.
