Duke Paolo

There isn't really much of a bad guy in this book, but if you want to stick a the "antagonist" badge on the guy we like the least, it's got to be Fabrizio's son, Paolo. Paolo is a spoiled kid who wants everything in the world to go his way. He's been born into a royal family and has no interest in doing any work to earn all the money and privilege he has. On top of that, he downright dislikes Fabrizio's adopted (and beloved) nephew, Tancredi, mostly because he thinks Tancredi is going to steal his inheritance. He's your cookie-cutter spoiled rich brat.
