The Maltese Falcon may be in black and white, but there are a few implied shady dealings happening off-screen. Spade and Archer openly lust after Brigid from the second she walks into their office, and we're told that Spade was having an affair with Archer's then-wife, now-widow, although we never see them exchanging any intimacies. (We do, however, get a gander at her weirdly thin eyebrows.)

Spade instead focuses on Brigid, and there's a somewhat icky power imbalance between the two of them. When she complains that he doesn't trust her, he says that she is trying to buy his trust, but that he can't be bought. "What else is there I can buy you with?" she asks, and he leans in for a kiss, then smooshes her cheek with his thumb as if he's marking her. So she can buy him—not with cash, but with her body.

So even though we don't see much black-and-white blood being spilled, or ever see Bogie in the buff, you should keep this movie away from the kiddos. They'll probably like it more when they're older, anyhow.
