How It All Goes Down

- The next day is even worse. Ursula tells the boy (who she keeps calling "little pitcher") that if he tries to leave again she'll lock him in his bedroom for the rest of the day and then tell his parents that he's done something horrible.
- He spends the day hiding in his laboratory and reading, until his dad comes home from work earlier than he ever has as far as the boy can recall.
- His father gives Ursula a tour of the gardens, and they're oddly touchy-feely. So gross.
- At dinner the boy refuses to eat the meatloaf that Ursula has made, and he tells his father that Ursula is a monster, and he hates her. This really ticks his father off.
- He tries to lock himself in the bathroom (the only door with a lock in the house), but his father literally breaks the door down.
- His father fills the tub with cold water and proceeds to try and drown him.
- The boy clings to his father's tie in order to try and save himself. Eventually his father gives up, and says that he should be glad his mother isn't there; then he orders him to go to his room for the rest of the night.
