The Mother

The priest doesn't have anyone to guide him, really, but others do. For Luis and his two sisters, it's their mother. She reads to them from prohibited books so that they'll learn something of the Catholic faith, even if no priests are on hand to preach and say Mass. In a way, she helps the priest by doing her small part to keep the faith alive.
