Character Analysis
The town librarian, Mrs. Boxall is one of the only people in Barberton who seems to have her head screwed on right. While everyone goes nuts with German spy fever over Doc, Mrs. Boxall is the only one (besides Peekay) who stands by him and helps to get him out of trouble.
While Mrs. Boxall seems a little like a boring librarian at time, she's actually a real tough cookie. She is brave enough to fool the whole town into donating their old clothes, cigarettes, and money to the phony Sandwich Fund, her cover for her secret black-market mission to supply the prisoners with salt, sugar, cigarettes, and, most importantly, letters for their families. What a saint.
