Character Analysis
Antonio seems to be your standard generic nice guy, at least as far as revenge tragedy goes. There's not a lot about him in the play, other than the fact that the brutal rape of his wife sets one of the revenge plots in motion. We know he's on the older side, and he has a sense of justice. He ends up taking over the dukedom at the end of the play when the Duke's whole family gets killed, and he seems to be about the best person available for the job. He may not have a ton of personality, but we'd way rather have him on the throne than anyone in the Duke's family.
