- Johnny's back in the diner where he usually eats. The only people there are him and the waitress he flirted with last time around.
- He asks the waitress what she's doing after she gets off work, and she tells him she'll go home to sleep.
- Johnny glances out a window and sees a guy waiting outside for him. He asks the waitress to let him out a bathroom window and she eventually agrees. Johnny leaves through the front door and lures the guy outside after him. Johnny runs back into the restaurant and hides in one of the bathrooms.
- Back outside, Johnny runs into the gunman again and the gunman shoots at him. But Johnny manages to lose him in an alley.
- As the gunman turns to walk away, he freezes when he sees someone off-camera. He says the name Salino just before he's shot to death. It looks like Lonnegan's new hitman doesn't like other people trying to kill his mark. So Lonnegan's new hitman just killed the old one.
- Johnny arrives back at his apartment building and gets grabbed by Lt. Snyder, who drags him down to the temporary office the FBI has set up.
- Inside, Special Agent Polk sits down with Johnny and asks him about Henry Gondorff. Polk says he wants to know when Gondorff is going to pull off his next big sting so that the FBI can scoop him up when it all goes down. Johnny refuses to do it, but Polk says he'll send him to a federal penitentiary for the next twenty years. He also threatens to send the wife of the dead Luther Coleman to jail too.
- Johnny ends up agreeing to the scheme on one condition—the FBI has to let the con go through completely before they bust in.
- Johnny and Henry might go down, but Johnny wants to make sure Lonnegan loses all his money before that happens.
