Despereaux

Although he's tiny, has great big ears, and is often mistaken for a bug, Despereaux is undoubtedly the hero of this story. The entire book is named after him, after all. And on top of that, he's a brave little guy who will do anything to protect the princess that he loves, even if it means endangering his life and charging into the very scary dungeons of the castle. That is what a true hero, and knight and shining armor, does.
