How we cite our quotes: (Part.Paragraph)
Quote #1
"See?" he said. "Boov and humanskind can be friend. I always say!" (1.168)
J.Lo might think so, but Tip's not so sure—at the beginning of the book, she doesn't want a Boov as a friend. In fact, she doesn't even want to speak to the Boov, let alone associate with them.
Quote #2
I thought a moment. He wasn't calling me Tip. Only friends called me Tip. (2.228)
In case you didn't catch it before, Tip does not want J.Lo thinking he's her friend, something she makes perfectly clear time and again. Here's the thing, though: The alien that she's sure she'll hate is actually pretty nice and ends up becoming her BFF.
Quote #3
After the fight, it was more difficult to carry on as we had. I was just permanently steamed, a little at J.Lo, and a little at myself for feeling too exhausted or beaten down to even hate him properly. Given what I'd learned, I thought I was entitled to ditch the Boov somewhere and keep going on my own. (2.244)
Finding out your road trip buddy was part of the peeps that abducted your mom kind of puts a damper on things. Still, Tip is pretty hard on the old Boov. She's willing to ditch him just for what his friends did, but we're not sure that's fair.
