Antagonist

Antagonist

Character Role Analysis

Mrs. Lisbon

Poor Mom. She gets a bum rap just for trying to keep her five daughters safe from the dangers of the world. She goes overboard, though, ruling the family with an iron fist, keeping the girls from doing ordinary teenage things like having friends, listening to music, or wearing makeup. She shuts them up in the house after the Homecoming dance, where they waste away physically and emotionally. She prevents them from doing what girls that age should be doing: figuring out how to be a grownup in a confusing and complicated world. Even though she's the antagonist, she's not evil. She loves her daughters and wants what she thinks is best for them.
