How It All Goes Down
- Back at camp, Shane suggests to Lori that he keep her company, but she shoos him away. "You've got to stop. Rick is back now… he's alive… and he's my husband" (519). So there was something going on between them!
- She says the night they spent together was "a mistake" (523).
- Time moves forward a couple of weeks, and Rick has been teaching everyone to shoot cans in a clearing.
- Donna's doing well, and Andrea's quite the crack shot.
- Rick's even teaching young Carl to shoot, and Lori isn't happy about it.
- When Rick decides that the seven-year-old will carry a gun, holstered and with the safety on at all times, Lori is angry.
- She's not the only one who's angry. Donna's mad that Dale is shacking up with the sisters, even though it has nothing to do with her.
- The guys go into the woods to chop wood and gossip. Rick tells Dale that Donna "won't shut up" (564) about him and the girls.
- Dale's mad that Donna hasn't shown him any gratitude since he, you know, saved her life.
- He does clarify that he's not sleeping with the girls, he just appreciates their companionship.
- They finish chopping wood, but Rick suggests they chop more. Snow is falling, and it's going to get cold.
- Shane yells at Rick that he's "sick to death of hearing [his] shit" (572). Wah, it's cold. Wah, we should move camp. Etc. And he storms back to camp without them.
