Billy Miller

There's no question about it: Billy Miller is the head honcho in this book. We see the whole story filtered through his eyes instead of any other character, plus his name is in the title, which is usually a dead giveaway. But we also know that Billy is our protagonist because we get to go along on a pretty great journey with him. He goes from being a nervous kid who isn't sure he can tackle second grade to a confident dude with compassion to spare. And we join in for each and every bump in the road.
