Jack

Biographies make figuring out the hero pretty easy. We see things from Jack's point of view, share in his various schemes and misadventures, and even though we may wince when he does something really stupid (which he does distressingly often) we're rooting for him to somehow land on his feet. (Okay, maybe we want him to learn a little lesson about why it's not okay to point loaded rifles at passersby, but still.)
