There's a little romance in this adventure story, and it comes in the form of Lee, the musical whiz and chef extraordinaire. Ellie is mesmerized by his depth, mystery, and philosophical musings on life—she wants to talk to him for hours and dreams about him wrapping around her. Is she attracted to Lee in the same way she's attracted to Homer's masculine confidence and bodily strength? No; but her attraction to Lee is more durable—she realizes her passion for Homer is more fleeting and animalistic—so he emerges as the winner of Ellie's affections in the end.
