Who is the narrator, can she or he read minds, and, more importantly, can we trust her or him?
Third Person (Limited Omniscient)
Because the story centers so much on Cole's internal transformation, it's useful to have a third person point of view with a direct view into how Cole is feeling and what he's thinking. And because our narrator has limited omniscience, throughout the story, we get a glimpse of the whole landscape—as well as a front row seat into Cole's innermost thoughts. We can watch his perspective on the world and on his own actions change over time, and we're right there with him as he becomes a better person.
