Wadjet Sightings
- The Pyramid Texts 3001BC - 2001BC
Not only is Wadjet the protector of royalty, she's related to them, too! In these texts, various pharaohs call the cobra goddess their sisters; she mourns their deaths when they kick the bucket.
- Autobiography of Intef II 2109BC - 2060BC
This Middle Kingdom pharaoh boasts that he conquered so much of Egypt, all the way through the "nome of Wadjet." This was a region of Egypt located in the north, where Wadjet liked to hang out.
- Spell 17 of The Book of the Dead 1301BC - 1202BC
In this spell, Wadjet shows how amazing she really is. She's the "Lady of the Devouring Flame," a representative of Re who protects the good. Only the bad guys can get near her - and they're doomed anyway.
- Hieroglyphic Stele from Buto 1 - 99
Found at Wadjet's home in Buto, this stele comes from a deceased pilgrim who just adored our snaky lady. He gushes about all her help in helping pilgrims have babies and provide food during times of hunger.
- Sphinx's Queen by Esther Friesner 2010
Nefertiti comes to life—thanks, of course, to Wadjet—in this book. She pays close attention to the pharaoh's favorite gods, including Isis, Hathor, Wadjet, and her friend Nekhbet.
