Kenny

Kenny is our main man, our narrator, the one we root for most. We see the world through his eyes, and the main conflict really centers on his relationship with Byron. Kenny struggles to believe in himself, to feel accepted, and to deal with the bombing at the church. That's a lot for a ten-year-old kid to take on. Fortunately, he and Byron both learn some important stuff on their trip to Birmingham, stuff that helps them both grow up a little and become better brothers for one another.
